Ratification of the 19th Amendment on August 18, 1920, guaranteeing women the right to vote, marked the end of a long struggle for equal suffrage and the dawn of a new era. Long before and after 1920, women in Purcellville and other areas in Loudoun County organized to work toward shared goals and the improvement of their communities.
