View cultural gifts given to the citizens of Loudoun County from dignitaries representing the residents of our Sister Cities. The exhibit runs from July 3-Aug. 31.
These gifts represent the economic development of the region and are expressions of the art and culture of their people.
A Sister City relationship is a broad-based, long-term partnership between two communities, usually in two countries. The relationship is officially recognized after the highest elected or appointed officials from both communities sign off on an agreement to become Sister Cities. The purpose of these relationships is to promote economic development, encourage investment and mutually beneficial opportunities, and improve cultural understanding. A Friendship City relationship is formed by cities as a stepping-stone to a more formal Sister City agreement.
Loudoun County has Sister City relationships with:
Canelones, Uruguay
Gangneung City, South Korea (Friendship City)
Goyang City, South Korea
Greater Noida, India
Holmes County, Mississippi
Karsiyaka Municipality, Izmir Province, Turkey
Main-Taunus-Kreis, Germany
