View turned wood pieces donated to the Loudoun County Government by local artist Thomas Jewell. The exhibit runs Sept. 3-Oct. 31.
Woodturning is a diverse medium taking a variety of forms from bowls and trays to pens and ornaments. In woodturning, a piece of wood is secured to a lathe which rotates while the woodworker uses tools such as chisels and gouges to shape and pattern the wood. Jewell’s collection of turned wood pieces offers a diverse view of the styles and possibilities in the medium.
