Art on Exhibit: Tracey Donnelly Franklin

Painting on White Gold

The paintings are explorations on a gilded surface. The canvases have been carefully sized, gilded with Manetti's Italian white gold, and painted in oil paint. The exhibit runs November-December.

The paintings are interpretations of chinoiserie paper from the 11th century, of the famous Japanese diptych, Red and White Plum Blossoms from the EDO Period attributed to Ogata Korin, and Monna Vanna by Dante Gabriel Rosetti.

Local artist Tracey Donnelly Franklin has a BFA from VCU and a Master of Fine Arts from George Mason University and studied at The Academie Port Royale in Paris, France, and The Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC. Her work has been shown regionally and nationally. She teaches classes for Loudoun County Public Library and Jefferson County Libraries, and is a registered copyist at The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. She hopes to one day open Macchia Fine Art Galleries.
