Author Bob O'Connor examines General Doubleday's military career during the Civil War, beginning with Fort Sumter and concluding at Gettysburg, and explores whether he truly invented baseball.

The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York was opened on the hundredth anniversary of the "invention of baseball" attributed to Doubleday. Each year, teams participate in an exhibition game at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown. However, the question remains: Did Doubleday actually invent baseball?

Bob O'Connor has published nearly three dozen books since 2006.
