Live Music: Jeff Cosgrove Quintet

Playing Two Classic Jazz Albums Front-to-Back

Led by drummer Jeff Cosgrove, this quintet performs two classic jazz albums in their entirety, though not note for note.

This quintet features Jeff Cosgrove (drums), Dave Ballou (trumpet), Darryl Brenzel (saxophone), John Lee (guitar), and Tom Teasley (percussion).

The two albums they will perform are Tribute by Paul Motian and Playing by Old and New Dreams. 

Tribute is a deeply reflective post-bop jazz album by drummer Paul Motian, showcasing his evolving artistry as a bandleader and composer. The album recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. DownBeat magazine called the album “A landmark in the career of an outstanding percussionist… 5 Stars.”

Playing is a live album recorded in Austria by jazz quartet Old and New Dreams, which highlights the band's ability to improvise
