View images that represent over thirty years of work, intentionally reflecting the Classical, seeking to elicit only that which is noble in the mind and spirit.
"If my photographs pose meaningful questions, through irony or metaphor, then I have perhaps risen above the merely agreeable, to create something more closely approaching the beautiful.
Film photography allows the freedom of neither the painter nor the digital artist. With the exception of cropping, my prints represent only what was on the film when exposed in the camera. Each silver-gelatin print is made by hand, the fruit of a process requiring 4–6 hours of work over several days before being ready for mounting and matting. I choose this not from fear or dislike of technological advance, but because the challenges oblige me to know my craft and to engage intensively with my subject, from before exposure of the negative through to evaluation of the final the print." - Philip Ulanowsky
