Max W. Johnson, Colonel, US Army (Ret), describes his experience as a Battery Executive Officer and Commander in Vietnam during two tours.
West Point graduate Colonel Johnson deployed to Vietnam in 1966 where he served as Battery Executive Officer and Battery Commander. He was wounded and received the Air Medal for Valor and the Purple Heart. He returned to Vietnam in 1969 where he served in the Cambodian incursion in 1970. He retired from the Army in 1992 and taught physics at Herndon High School for 17 years before retiring.
