Local historian Paul McCray shares the story of the Murrays, Purcellville's Civil Rights pioneers who fought for the right to check out a book from the Purcellville Library.
In 1957, a courageous Black couple from Purcellville stood against many elected officials and business leaders in Loudoun County to gain the right to check out a book from the Purcellville Library.
Paul McCray is a recipient of the 2011 Thomas Balch Library's Loudoun History Award.
