Author Kevin Grigsby discusses his new book, A Story of Hope & Freedom: The Proctors of Loudoun & Fauquier Counties, Virginia. Book signing to follow.
Grigsby chronicles the Proctor family's courageous and resilient journey through the horrific perils of slavery and their struggles as free people of color in Virginia before the Civil War and decades after. Spanning from colonial times to the present, the Proctors' story encompasses sacrifice, tragedy, trauma, and difficult choices, but it also highlights remarkable triumphs, resilience, love, and the enduring power of family.
Location: Middleburg Community Center, 300 West Washington St.
