Makerspace: Personalize Your School Supplies
Thursday, August 13
2:00pm - 3:30pm
Rust Library
MakerspaceEngrave a pencil with the Glowforge, use the Cameo Cutter to make a vinyl sticker with your name, or bring in your school supplies to see how to personalize.
Three pieces of equipment will be on display, each featuring a different project.
- The Glowforge is a laser cutter and engraver that works with the computer to put designs onto objects. Engrave a pencil or make a simple wooden nametag to hang off your bag.
- The Cameo Cutter is another cutting machine specializing in cutting through different kinds of paper and vinyl. Use it to make simple single-color stickers or to add some design to a backpack with heat-transfer vinyl.
- Sublimation printing is a dying process that uses special ink, heat and pressure to put colorful images onto polyester and other specially treated materials. There will be canvas pencil cases and round bag charms that you can decorate.
You're welcome to bring your own supplies, and the makerspace staff will advise you on which projects you can use to personalize it.
Supplies will be provided for most projects. Space and supplies are limited. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
