Marne Titchenell discusses strategies for managing public green spaces to protect the habitats of birds, bats and other pollinators.

As a nation, we are becoming more and more disconnected from nature, even though spending time outdoors has been shown to provide measurable physical and psychological benefits. For wildlife, the rate at which natural habitats are being conserved is declining, and there is great potential to provide valuable resources within cities and communities. Therefore, the management of public green spaces for both wildlife and humans is a win-win situation.

Marne Titchenell is the Extension Wildlife Program Director for the Ohio State University.
