Rust Library
Large Meeting RoomDiscover toys and games that children in colonial America played. Try your luck with ball-and-cup and other hands-on activities for children of all ages.
Children of all ages – both free and enslaved – found time to have fun during colonial America. They played with games and toys, enjoyed activities like running and chasing games that did not require equipment, and sang and danced. Join Audrey DeAngelis (Public Historian) and Donna Bohanon (Education Associate) from Oatlands as they share the history of toys and games that children in colonial America would have played. Try your luck with ball-and-cup and other hands-on activities.
Oatlands is a 400-acre site located six miles south of Leesburg on Route 15. Visitors can tour the historic mansion, walk through 4.5 acres of terraced gardens, and relax in the picnic grove. Open daily from 10-5, April through December.
